The CEPLER Conference 2013

Date: Friday 18 October 2013

Venue: Lucas House, University of Birmingham Conference Park

Over the course of the last three decades a range of forces have combined to transform the legal profession. The most recent developments – such as the introduction of Alternative Business Structures and the drastic cuts to legal aid – may be viewed as representing a watershed in this process, with implications for the entire legal field. CEPLER’s 2013 conference explored some key aspects of this transformation for the profession and legal education through an esteemed programme of speakers - both practitioners and academics. The key note was given by Rick Abel, Connell Distinguished Professor of Law Emeritus and Distinguished Research Professor, UCLA, whose compendious output on legal professionalism and education includes English Lawyers between Market and State.
