Is this the end of lawyers?: the changing legal landscape
In these turbulent times of shifting legal services regulation, blurred lines between areas of practice, Alternative Business Structures, and changes to legal education, is there a place in the profession for the traditional lawyer? What does the future hold for qualifying legal practitioners and access to justice?
Dame Linda Dobbs became the first non-white High Court Judge in 2004, following a successful career at the bar, which included chairing a number of committees including: the Race Relations and Professional Standards Committees, and the Criminal Bar Association. She was the Senior Liaison Judge for Diversity and Chair of the Magisterial and International Committees of the Judicial College.She has been named in the past as one of Britain’s most powerful black women and has featured regularly in the Power 100 List of Influential Black Britons. In 2013 Dame Linda stepped down early from the Bench to pursue other interests, including training judges and lawyers internationally.
