Amazing Ammonites!

These curious coiled creatures are a favourite find for many fossil hunters! Have you ever wondered how they became preserved in stone?

Join us this May half term to unearth the amazing life of ammonites. Learn all about how this incredible animal lived, and get the chance to handle some of our fantastic fossilised ammonites!

Activities range from stories, talks, trails and craft activities. Have a go at making your very own ammonite!

Timetable:

  • 11:00 & 13:30 Story Time (all ages) [Active Earth Gallery]
  • 12:00 & 14:30 Join Aerona (Museum’s Learning Officer) for a talk on ‘The Secret Life of an Ammonite’, find out how they lived and eventually became fossilised! (suitable for 5+) [Education Room]
  • 12:30 & 15:00 Fossil handling - Get the chance to examine and handle some real ammonite fossils (all ages) [Education Room]

Throughout the day:

  • Museum Trail (all ages)
  • Arts & Crafts activities! (all ages) [Jurassic Seas area]

All our activities are free of charge and first come first served - there is no need to book.
