Mary Anning

A temporary exhibition celebrating the unveiling of the statue of Mary Anning in Lyme Regis in May 2022. A scale model of the statue is touring the country and will be on display in the Lapworth Museum’s gallery between September and December.

Mary Anning (1799-1847) was a pioneering palaeontologist and fossil hunter. She made many important fossil discoveries including the first ichthyosaur and plesiosaur, and the first pterosaur found outside of Europe.
