Crafted in Time: Clay Tile Workshop

Artist Rachel Akers will lead an engaging online workshop in which you will create a beautiful clay tile inspired by the Lapworth Museum.

Be inspired by the fossils and drawings in the Lapworth Museum and create a beautiful tile (or two!) to hang on your wall. Rachel will talk you through the steps involved in creating a clay tile using joining techniques with a terracotta air-drying clay. After leaving your piece to dry you can either keep it as the natural terracotta, or paint it any colour you like. This workshop is suitable for any skill level, as you will be led through each process and come away with a beautiful piece of art that you can be proud of.

Bookings for this workshop will open on Wednesday 30th June. You can book tickets on our eventbrite page here.

Rachel Akers has been working as an artist for the past 15 years either teaching it to others or creating her own wonderful creations. Rachel specialises in wire tree sculptures but also creates wearable art pieces. She runs creative clay and jewellery making workshops.

“I love teaching others how to create art because art to me is therapy, especially working with clay, it is so tactile and fun to work with and you can make all sorts of fantastic things.”

Before registering, please read the Lapworth Museum's information on 'Virtual Workshops: Guidance and Code of Conduct'.
