A Tale of Scale: How do we know about forest response to climate change?

“How will terrestrial ecosystems respond to climate change” is a simple sounding question without any clear answers. But asking the question itself, and thinking about why it’s so difficult to answer, can tell you a lot about how our planet works, and how we know about it. Bridget will be using forest response to atmospheric CO₂ to talk about the ways climate has changed through geologic time, and how we can look at both modern and fossil plants – and everything in between – to learn about how science both asks and answers questions.
