Using Lapworth's Archive for Research and Teaching

Join us at the Lapworth Museum on Thursday 26th January 2023, 10am-1pm, to explore how the archive of Charles Lapworth (1842-1920) could be used in your research and teaching at the University of Birmingham.

Lapworth’s archive covers his extensive career in geology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but it is also has potential to be used as a multi-disciplinary resource with records relating to mental health and wellbeing, women in science, social history and international geology amidst colonialism.

This informal session will include an introduction to the archive and the new online catalogue, a chance to look at some original documents and a series of short presentations from researchers in the History, English and Geology departments looking at how they have already utilised the archive.

This session is aimed at postgraduate students, researchers and staff within the University of Birmingham.

Lunch will be provided at the end of the session.

Booking is essential. For enquiries and to book please contact Rachel Brown, Project Archivist,
