Welcome to Basic Training week (12 - 15 Nov)!
We are pleased to offer a 4-day course (with option to attend one or more days) that focusses on both fundamental and advanced concepts in NMR- and MS- based metabolomics. The course includes theory, introductions to experimental design, statistical analysis and metabolic tracing, as well as other useful hints and tips not always found in text books. Training is provided by the experts!
Course organiser: Dr Christian Ludwig
This year's course is aimed at beginner's and intermediate level (e.g. Year 1 and 2 PhD) and is intended to provide a platform from which students can interact with expert instructors and ask questions in a friendly environment.
Days 1 & 2 introduce NMR, MS and metabolism - for everyone to familiarise themselves with the biological background.
Days 3 & 4 provide opportunity to explore experimental design and the methods used in metabolomics and metabolic tracing. Basic training week will close with an afternoon of short presentations by local researchers, demonstrating applications of the taught methods.
There will be ample time for Q&A sessions each day. It is the instructors' challenge to ensure that everyone takes away more knowledge than they arrived with. Anyone looking for a refresher in the techniques of NMR and MS is also very welcome to attend.
Pre-requisites: Exposure to basic NMR spectroscopy or MS techniques is advantageous, though not mandatory.
Day 1: Introduction to technologies (NMR & MS)
Day 2: Introduction to metabolism and metabolic tracing
Day 3: NMR- & MS- based metabolomics
Day 4: Tracer-based metabolism: analysis and applications
We look forward to seeing you!
