Award Description

Inspired by the life and work of Professor Stuart Hall, the Stuart Hall Foundation (SHF) is committed to public education, addressing urgent questions of race and inequality in culture and society through talks and events, and building a network of SHF scholars and artists in residence.

The Stuart Hall Foundation Bursary provides funding for Postgraduate Research students in the College of Arts and Law and the College of Social Sciences to undertake research on issues of interest to the Foundation. 

Value of Award

There are two bursaries available worth £6,000 each. The bursary comprises of a £5,000 cash award and £1,000 to assist with travel costs.

Eligibility Criteria

These bursaries are open to all current Postgraduate Research students from the College of Arts and Law and the College of Social Sciences who are undertaking research that is of interest to the Stuart Hall Foundation.

How to Apply

Applicants should complete and submit the online application for the Stuart Hall Foundation Bursary by 31 December 2022. 

The applications will be assessed by a panel of Directors of Research and all candidates will be notified about the outcome of their applications at the end of January.
