Outreach

The ESRs have given a total of 72 talks (T) or presented posters (P) at International and Local Conferences. They have been invited to present research seminars in different universities on 15 occasions. Posters and abstracts are available on the COMREC website. The conferences and titles of the presentations are shown below. In instances where 2 or more ESRs presented at the same conference these are grouped together.

UoB ESR Marina Martinez Garcia gave a talk in the 1st Marie Skłodowska Curie Association Annual Seminar Series at the University of Birmingham in October 2014. Marina has also started to demonstrate in undergraduate practical classes every Tuesday in the Molecular Biology course (2nd year). She has also participated in the Women in Science project associated with the Guiding movement on the 10th January and 25th April 2015.

On the 25th April 2015, using our strong links with Birmingham Museums, Marina coordinated and organised the ‘Women in Science’ for Brownies and Guides girls stand at a "Meet the Scientist' event at the ThinkTank Museum.  On the 1st July 2015, Marina presented a workshop during Work Experience Week at the University of Birmingham entitled "Are you nuts or going bananas? How plant reproduction sustains us".
