Dr John Callaghan
John is a research assistant on the Leeds team. His role is to study the ‘linguistic landscapes’ of the Gipton and Harehills Ward, i.e. to see what part is played in the lives of key participants by the textual and other visual and spatial features of the communicative environment.
John’s research interests include linguistic and visual ethnography, in particular when used to investigate intercultural interaction in its spatial and historical contexts.
