Jolana is a Research Assistant based at the University of Leeds. Together with other Leeds-based project members, she studies linguistic practices of the Czech and Slovak community in the area of Harehills (Leeds).
Jolana holds an MA from Palacky University in Olomouc (Czech Republic), where she studied English and Portuguese Philology. Apart from her linguistic background, Jolana’s extensive stays in Brazil brought her in direct contact with the local communities and provided a base for the ethnographic aspect of her role.
She also has passion for literary translation and was awarded Hieronymitae Pragensis Prize for young translators from Portuguese in 2013.
