Jo McChesney - Woodcut Print Exhibition

Winterbourne House
14 - 24/11/2011
Jo McChesney was born in 1964 in Warwickshire. She graduated from Bath Academy of Art in 1985 specializing in illustration. It was here that she first experimented with handmade paper and typography later building on these themes for her MA in printed textiles.

After working as a textile designer, illustrator and part time lecturer, she travelled to Kyoto, Japan to study the traditional technique of woodblock printing. Since returning to the UK she has continued to work with woodblock prints. Her current work combines her knowledge of traditional Japanese print making techniques with a distinctly western approach to image making. Her work draws upon the natural world, and focuses on fleeting moments in time.
