If you are attending a Degree Congregation at the University as a friend or family member you may find the following information useful when planning your day.
Getting to the University
Degree Congregations are held on our Edgbaston campus. For the most up-to-date information about travelling to campus please visit our Getting here page, which also contains detailed directions, maps and information concerning roadworks around campus.
Tickets and seating
Graduands are asked to collect all tickets on the day of their graduation from the Registration Desk in the Bramall Music Building (building R12 on the campus map). Each graduand is allocated two guest tickets.
Guest seating is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be seats for everyone with a ticket.
Please note that with the exception of registered assistance animals, pets and animals are not permitted entry to the Great Hall. Graduands and guests requiring the care of an assistance animal should contact Funding, Graduation & Awards as soon as the date and time of their graduation is known, so that necessary arrangements can be made. As part of this process we will ask for proof of the animal's registration as an assistance animal.
Guests who are unable to obtain extra tickets can watch the Degree Congregation in our screening room. No tickets are required for this venue - seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The screening room will be signposted from the Great Hall.
Visa to attend the ceremony
Please read our visitor visa guide if you need a visa to attend your Degree Congregation.
In support of your application, the University can produce a letter for the graduating student that states that they have been invited to attend a Degree Congregation and that they are able to bring two guests with them to the ceremony. We are unable to issue named invitations to guests.
The graduating student can request a copy of this letter by visiting the Aston Webb Student Hub or placing an order through the online shop.
