Photography at the July 2021 graduation celebrations

To help make your graduation day special we have arranged a free photography package for you.

There are two elements to the photography package: a traditional portrait shot and your Moment on Stage. Bookings closed on Sunday 4 July. You will need to show your booking confirmation  from Ede and Ravenscroft in order to gain access to the Great Hall on your graduation day. Please use the Bramall Music Building entrance to join the socially distanced queue for the photography and have the QR code from your booking confirmation ready, on an electronic device or printed out, on arrival. Due to COVID-security measures, we will not be able to accommodate anyone who has not booked by the deadline or who misses their pre-booked slot.

The portrait shot

We have covered the cost of a standard photography package with Ede and Ravenscroft for you. This comprises a traditional graduation-day portrait taken at studios set up in the Great Hall and includes:

  • One 10"x8" graduate print in a cream, embossed mount.
  • Two 5"x4" graduate prints in cream mounts.

Ede and Ravenscroft will despatch your order after the events have taken place. If you experience any problems with placing or receiving your order, please contact them directly at customer_services@academic-services.co.uk or on 01223 734759.

Your Moment on Stage

We know how important going up on stage in the Great Hall is for our graduating students and their loved ones. While the difficult situation in which we are all operating means that we will not be able to run a standard ceremony, we have done our best to still provide you with a moment of personal recognition in the Great Hall to mark your achievements in a COVID-secure manner. Your name will be called out before you alight the stage to collect your graduation scroll. This special moment will be captured on film and you will have a moment to pose for a professional photograph against this iconic graduation backdrop, before you walk out of the Great Hall with pride. Subject to any further COVID restrictions, your two guests will be able to cheer you as members of the audience in the Great Hall.

The video clip of your Moment on Stage will be sent to you via email in September: please see the section on data sharing below for further information. You will be provided with a digital copy of the photograph in early September, as a memento of your achievements. Please be aware that the photograph from your Moment on Stage will be made available via the online gallery, Flickr, which will be publicly available to all. The photograph file will not include your name and entries will instead be searchable by timeslot. By having your image taken on stage in the Great Hall you agree to our sharing your image in this way for the purposes of delivery. Further information is available in the section on data sharing, below.

What if I don’t want both parts of the photography package?

If you only want to take advantage of one element of the photography package, either the portrait shot or the Moment on Stage, that’s absolutely fine. You should still book using Ede and Ravenscroft’s form as normal. On the day just let one of the ushers know which part you do not want and we will direct you through the Great Hall accordingly.

Can I order additional prints?

You can use Ede and Ravenscroft’s form to order additional prints, frames and premium paper stock. Please note that, if you add anything other than the basic photography package to your basket, you will be charged for the additional elements and will need to pay for these before you can place your order and secure your photography slot.

Can my guests feature in the photographs?

No, unfortunately this is not something that we can accommodate under the current circumstances. No group photography will be available but your two guests will be able to watch the Moment on Stage from the audience area of the Great Hall. They will need to take their places in the audience area while you have your portrait taken in the booths.

What if I have access requirements?

If you have any access requirements that you would like to discuss with a member of the team, particularly with regard to accessing the stage in the Great Hall, please email graduation@contacts.bham.ac.uk

Data sharing

If you wish to have your Moment on Stage, you agree to your name and image being captured and filmed, and to appearing in your personalised graduate video. That footage, together with your name, student ID number, and email address will be shared with Stageclip Ltd, only in relation to creating and supplying your personalised Moment on Stage video. The University of Birmingham’s  Development and Alumni Relations Office will then send you by email a unique URL enabling you to view your Moment on Stage video. By having your video filmed in the Great Hall, you agree to our sharing your footage and data in this way for the purposes of delivery.

A photograph from your Moment on Stage will be made available via the online gallery, Flickr, which will be publicly available to all. The University will send a photography link to all students who have participated in the Moment on Stage  activity at the Graduation Celebration event. The photograph file will not include your name and entries will instead be searchable by date and timeslot. By having your Moment on Stage in the Great Hall you agree to our sharing your image in this way for the purposes of delivery. The online gallery will be made available in September 2021 and will be closed on 1 October 2021. If you want to have your image removed from the online gallery before that point, you can email us at graduation@contacts.bham.ac.uk to ask for it to be taken down.
