Psychology

 The University provides undergraduate and specialist research level collections of books, journals and electronic resources for the study of Psychology. 

The library currently subscribes to circa 1,000 journal titles in this field.

Our collections

Main Library 

The Main Library holds undergraduate texts and specialist research collections in psychology.  It also houses our Social Sciences Reference collection and Official Statistics. 

Barnes Library

The Barnes Library houses collections in medicine, health and life sciences. Clinical psychology materials form part of this collection.

Orchard Learning Resource Centre

Some psychology texts and research material is held in the Orchard Learning Resource Centre (OLRC) in Selly Oak.

Alongside the print collections, we provide members with access to a range of electronic resources, including key bibliographic databases such as:

  • EMBASE
  • Web of Science
  • CINAHL
  • eBooks such as the International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences.

We also offer a wide range of electronic journals. 

Special collections

Cadbury Research Library: Special Collections holds the archive collection of Leslie Weatherhead, a pioneer in relating psychology, religion and healing in the twentieth century. The collection contains diverse material relating to Weatherhead as a popular and controversial author, preacher, lecturer and counsellor.
