Laura Beers was awarded the Stansky Book Prize at last week’s North American Conference on British Studies for her book The Life of Ellen Wilkinson, Socialist, Feminist, Internationalist.

The Stansky Prize is awarded annually by the North American Conference on British Studies for the best book published anywhere by a North American scholar on any aspect of British studies since 1800. The Life of Ellen Wilkinson uses the lived experience and career trajectory, of this pioneering early Labour MP, to tell the wider story of how left-wing, socialist and feminist activism and political culture in early Twentieth Century Britain developed and grew.
