Dr Roskell

Dr Roskell, Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy, has been selected as the winner of the Outstanding Teaching Award 2018 for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences. All nominations for this award were submitted by students and the shortlisting panel was made up of student representatives. The winners panel recognised a number of features of outstanding practice, including encouraging active learning, extending discussions beyond immediate subject concerns, ‘going above and beyond’ to make changes in accordance with student feedback, and innovative ways to encourage personal development.

Carolyn is Post-Graduate Taught Lead within the School. She teaches on Undergraduate and Postgraduate Physiotherapy qualifying programmes, leading on Psychosocial Basis of Patient-centred Care, Evidence-based Cardiorespiratory Practice and Advancing Physiotherapy Practice modules. Carolyn derives her approach to learning and teaching from the ‘patient-centred’ model of healthcare practice she promotes within physiotherapy. This involves seeing students as individuals, valuing their contributions and working in partnership to support their growth and development within their chosen professional domain.

Congratulations to Dr Roskell on receiving this prestigious award.
