HEFi’s new Award and Recognition Framework references two important, external awards that are made by Advance HE each year. The National Teaching Fellowship awards (NTF) and the Collaborative Awards for Teaching Excellence (CATE) recognise the exceptional work of individuals and teams that has had an impact on teaching and learning.

The NTF award ‘celebrates and recognises individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession in higher education’, whilst CATE ‘recognises and rewards collaborative work that has had a demonstrable impact on teaching and learning’.

Each year, Birmingham may nominate up to THREE individuals for award of National Teaching Fellowship and ONE team for the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence. Individuals (for NTF) and staff members (for CATE) must have, or be working towards, Fellowship of the HEA.

We have set up a Canvas page for staff to find out more about these awards and how to get involved. You can access the page here. We are now inviting expressions of interest for institutional nomination for these awards. Full details of the awards and how to submit an expression of interest are contained in the Canvas page.
