Highview Power Station

Director of the Birmingham Centre for Energy Storage, Professor Yulong Ding speaks to The Economist about the concept of liquid air energy storage (LAES). Invented by Professor Ding, LAES has been applied by Highview Power to build a pilot grid-scale plant in Bury that can store 15 megawatt-hours of energy, which is enough to power about 5,000 homes for three hours.
