We are delighted to announce that Birmingham Business School has been shortlisted for the Business School of the Year award at the 2020 Times Higher Education (THE) Awards for its contribution to responsible business research and developing the future generation of responsible leaders.

These are the 16th annual THE Awards – and the first to be hosted online – and Birmingham Business School is amongst over 80 institutions shortlisted across 20 different categories. The awards are the biggest celebration of UK higher education and recognise the outstanding work of universities and how they operate.

The shortlisted nomination was based primarily on the actions the School has taken towards establishing and delivering a responsible business agenda, with success in implementing these values within its core education and research frameworks. As a School, we have also built a culture around our vision of ‘working for a responsible future’ amongst our staff and students, and engage our community in all that we do.

Evidencing our commitment to the responsible business agenda is our partnership with the Lloyds Banking Group to develop the Centre for Responsible Business. The Centre aims to help businesses in their progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals by working with numerous organisations to develop resources focused on making businesses more responsible. The Centre conducts rigorous research into responsible business practice and how this research can be implemented into real life business environments.

Professor Cathy Cassell, Dean of the Business School, comments, “I am delighted that the School’s commitment to responsible business has been recognised in our shortlisting for these awards. It is a testament to the commitment and hard work of all our colleagues and students and a recognition of the excellent trajectory along which the School is progressing”.

The annual THE Awards will be taking place on Thursday 26th November 2020, more information can be found on the THE Awards website.
