Professor Fiona Carmichael and Dr Christian Darko are co-investigators on two exciting projects in Ghana that are part of our Labour Market Inequalities and Disadvantages work stream. The first project, funded by the British Academy/Leverhulme investigates transition from school-to-work among tertiary graduates in two regions of Ghana.

The study aims to understand how factors such as family background and pre-labour market experience can affect employment outcomes of graduates. The second project, a pilot study on commuting, working and wellbeing in Accra, is co-led with colleagues in the Business School and the University of Oxford, the study examines how commuting times and patterns impact employment, health and wellbeing.
