HEFi has a number of resources that will help to design and plan teaching and teaching-related activities and resources this year.

Start with our Inclusive Educator Canvas Course. This short online course (which can be completed in around 30 minutes) introduces you to a definition and qualities of an inclusive educator and invites you to reflect on your practice and make a commitment to inclusive education. Over 300 colleagues have now enrolled on this course and it includes a rich and continually growing peer-led discussion board with personal stories, ideas, advice and practical tips. Find out more here: https://canvas.bham.ac.uk/enroll/F7P7DH

Have a look at our guidance for Personal Academic Tutors on the Remote Teaching Resource as an introduction to the principles and practice of effective academic tutoring. Then look in more detail at the Canvas Module on Personal Academic Tutoring (https://canvas.bham.ac.uk/courses/26512) for detailed guidance and links to further resources.

The Remote Teaching Resource has comprehensive guidance on assessment and feedback, including advice on redesigning assessment for online delivery and developing authentic assessment (https://canvas.bham.ac.uk/courses/42894/pages/introduction-to-assessment-and-feedback-resilience?module_item_id=1459969).

Finally, the Teaching in a Socially Distanced Classroom resource has been created to offer some ideas and principles around face-to-face teaching this semester. We are encouraging everyone to share their experiences through an online discussion forum so that we can learn from each other: https://canvas.bham.ac.uk/enroll/XMYGET

Externally, Advance HE has produced a number of resources to support teaching during the pandemic. As institutional members, Birmingham staff have access to these resources available here: https://www.advance-he.ac.uk/advance-he-membership-benefits/resources-support-you-during-covid-19-pandemic

HEFi will also be part of a funded project through the EUniWell network this year, researching the concept of “human literacy” against a digital backdrop. Further information about the project can be found here: https://www.euniwell.eu/newsroom/article/successful-proposals-for-the-first-euniwell-seed-funding-call-selected and as the project involves its findings will be shared on the HEFi website.
