On 10th February 2021, Dr Tom Harrison was presented with the 2021 International Federation for Family Development (IFFD) Award at an event hosted by IFFD and co-sponsored by the United Nations(UN) Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Dr. Harrison spoke at the event which was attended by a number of ambassadors to the UN. The Award was presented to Dr. Harrison for his research on parenting in the digital age and in recognition of his latest book, THRIVE: How to Cultivate Character So Your Children Can Flourish Online.
Additionally, on 21st January 2021, Dr. Harrison contributed to a focus group meeting, with representatives from the OECD, UN, UNICEF, Common Sense Media, IFFD and other organisations on the topic of families and new technologies. The aim of the group was to develop policy measures that will improve the well-being of families. The event was part of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs' Commission on Social Development which will focus on the role of digital technologies on social development and well-being.
