Dr Lisa Goodson is the UK lead on a new project Empowering Cities Of Migration: New Methods For Citizen Involvement And Socio-spatial Integration (EMPOWER).
Professor Simon Pemberton from the University Keele is the PI for the project. Lisa will be working with Brushstrokes Community Project to deliver the UK part of the project. There are also partners in Germany (Bochum) and Sweden (Gothenburg). The project’s aim is to develop new methods of citizen empowerment and knowledge co-creation for gender-aware integration.
Funded in the UK through the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), EMPOWER aims to empower local residents in three European cities (Birmingham, UK; Bochum, Germany; and Gothenburg, Sweden) to work with housing, migration and planning specialists on creating new approaches to housing and integration, which will help to avoid segregation and exclusion in diverse urban places. Further information on the project can be found on Keele's EMPOWER website.
