Writing with Emilia Zankina (Temple University, Rome), POLSIS Doctoral Researcher Yuxiang Lin and Dr Tim Haughton examined the outcome of the Bulgarian parliamentary elections in an article for the Washington Post. They argued that corruption was the key theme of the election, helping to explain the drop in the support for the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov’s GERB party and the success of Slavi Trifonov’s new party, There Are Such a People.
