University of Birmingham proudly sponsors The Manufacturer MX Awards 2015

The University of Birmingham is delighted to sponsor The Manufacturer MX Awards 2015, which offers manufacturers from across the UK the opportunity to showcase their achievements across 13 individual award categories.

As an exclusive sponsor for the Judging Day, the University of Birmingham is partnering with the awards to reward and recognise the UK’s best and most inspirational manufacturers.

The Manufacturer MX Awards 2015 were launched at the House of Commons earlier this year, with more than 200 senior business leaders turning out for the event, sponsored by Margot James MP and attended by Business Minister Matthew Hancock.

The Manufacturer MX Awards (TMMX) were formed in 2015 by the merger of two of the industry’s existing awards programmes: The Manufacturer of the Year Awards, run by The Manufacturer, and the Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Awards, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

With a combined heritage spanning four decades, TMMX is dedicated to encouraging and promoting competitive manufacturing in the UK, and celebrating the very best in the industry annually.

Speaking at the launch in March, Nick Hussey, CEO of The Manufacturer, said:

“There are too many awards that lack gravitas and rigour and do nothing to help UK manufacturing. By combining with the Institution we have established the ultimate benchmark for all UK manufacturers to aspire to.”

“By uniting our strength and experience, we are raising the bar for all manufacturers in the UK, offering them the platform and confidence to stand tall on the international stage.”

The awards are judged by an expert panel, comprising senior representatives from the manufacturing industry, previous award winners and manufacturing oriented academia, whose experience and feedback provide highly valued learning and reflection for entrants.

Tim Yates, Marketing and Communications Manager at the University of Birmingham, said:

“It is extremely important to promote the UK as a key manufacturing nation, and also to emphasise that partnerships between industry and universities are essential for economic growth. For this reason, for the third year running, The University of Birmingham is proud to be supporting UK manufacturing by sponsoring the judging day for these fantastic awards."

In 2014, almost 1,000 industry leaders joined together at the Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner, a record-breaking crowd for the event. Having grown in both number and momentum year-on-year, this event highlights the growing pride, passion and importance of UK industry.

Previous winners include leading names such as Ginsters, GE Aviation Wales, MBDA, Sheffield Forgemasters International and Jaguar Land Rover.

All the winners for The Manufacturer MX Awards 2015 will be announced at an awards ceremony held at The ICC in Birmingham on 26 November 2015.
