In collaboration with the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the University of Birmingham is pleased to announce a new three-year project, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, that will advance its pioneering work in quantum technologies. 

The Centre for Innovation in Advanced Measurement in Manufacturing (CIAMM) has been developed to help SMEs within the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP area discover the full potential of quantum technologies, through providing access to world-class technical expertise, research programmes and collaborative partners.  

How can CIAMM help my business?

The University of Birmingham’s UK National Quantum Technology Hub for Sensors and Metrology has already benefitted many businesses seeking to achieve enhanced accuracy and precision in 

advanced manufacturing measuring time, frequency, rotation, magnetic fields and gravity. Quantum technologies offer a distinct opportunity for improving accuracy and precision with measurement-centred processes across the following key sectors:

  • civil engineering
  • high performance computing
  • med-tech
  • satellite technology
  • scientific instrument
  • transportation

  • Access to Finance to help further your research aspirations

CIAMM project eligibility

To be eligible for support through the CIAMM project you must be:

  • a registered UK business, located within the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership area. Please use the following link to check which LEP area your postcode is located in here.
  • an SME (organisation with less than 250 employees, turnover of less than €50million)
