Julian MooreJulian Moore

Business Engagement Manager (CIAMM)
Tel: 0121 415 9922

As Business Engagement Manager for The Centre for Innovation in Advanced Measurement in Manufacturing (CIAMM) project, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Julian provides opportunities for SMEs to explore and develop their measurement, inspection and monitoring capabilities through access to technical support, world-class facilities and specialist technologies, including quantum.

Julian studied Business and Marketing at the University of Wolverhampton and following successes within the soft drinks, social housing and community regeneration sectors, has spent the last 20 years developing and promoting successful engagements between academia and industry (SMEs) for West Midlands-based higher education establishments.

Rebecca JeavonsRebecca Jevons

Project Manager (CIAMM)

As a Project Manager in the School of Physics and Astronomy, Rebecca supports a team of academics and business engagement managers to deliver CIAMM, a project seeking to increase the use of quantum technology among SMEs in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull area. Rebecca studied at Cambridge and the School of Oriental and African Studies before working in various countries across West Africa for several years in international development.

Archie KubbaDr Archie Kubba

Knowledge Exchange Fellow (CIAMM)

Dr Ali Kubba is an Honorary Research Fellow and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK. He specialises in Micro Electromechanical Systems and vehicle dynamics with research interests in this area. He currently holds the position of Knowledge Exchange Fellow for the CIAMM project, and was previously Lead Researcher for Fusion Innovations Ltd based at the Birmingham Research Park in Edgbaston.

Dr Kubba has published over 10 research papers in scientific journals as well as presented several conference papers in the fields of Energy Harvesting, Micro Systems, Piezoelectric transducers, and tyre monitoring systems technologies at universities based in the UK, Europe and the US. He has worked on a number of research projects funded by Innovate UK, SMART and EPSRC.

Qiushuo SunDr Qiushuo Sun

Knowledge Exchange Fellow (CIAMM)

Dr Sun supports CIAMM as a Knowledge Exchange Fellow and offers wider support to the University’s UK Quantum Technology Hub Sensors and Timing. Dr Sun helps SMEs enhance the precision and quality of their products to make them more accurate and dependable. She achieves this through offering inspection, measurement and monitoring solutions inspired by quantum technologies.

Her passion for working within the Integrated Quantum Clock (iqClock) team is that she can help realise the potential for optical clocks. By being part of the Strontium Clock Team, she works closely with five academic and six industry partners across Europe, to bring one of the best types of clocks in the world from the lab to industry.

A highlight of her work on the CIAMM project has been supporting a local SME, Precision Acoustics. The company wanted to build a laser for their products, but were not sure where to start or how best to proceed. They reached out to CIAMM and Sarah was able to help them develop a new team and shared expertise about tunable external cavity diode lasers and their construction.

Without a doubt, Sarah is excited about the prospect of quantum technologies changing people’s lives without them even realising. She is excited to see how different areas of research and companies will collaborate to help push us forwards into this new age of technology.
