This module establishes education as a field of research that is shaped by global, national and local concerns, which, in turn, shape policies and practices. It explores how education policies, research and knowledge are created and used by policymakers, researchers, and practitioners, and seeks to develop critical perspectives on the contested nature of educational policies and practices. This is used as a basis for enabling you to understand and locate your own research
agenda as a contemporary and contested issue.
