Module description
A consideration of food security as defined by the WHO. Aspects of insecurity and the mechanisms to manage them will be addressed including, for example:
- Deliberate contamination
- Infrastructure issues
- Food safety management systems
- Global sourcing
By the end of the module you will be able to:
- Identify the main contributors (according to the WHO) to making a community food secure
- Demonstrate awareness of risks to food security globally and in the UK
- Describe appropriate responses to perceived risks such as those used by government and the industry
- Critically evaluate published documents relating to aspects of food chain security.
