This module provides students with an understanding of the engineering and operational issues involved in the manufacture of new chemical and biological products for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, agro-, food and fine chemicals industries.
By attending this course you will learn about current pharmaceutical manufacturing principles, the engineering design basis of manufacturing systems, the various product quality and safety issues that control the regulatory acceptance of manufacturing facilities and how manufacturing processes are designed to ensure product compliance with regulatory requirements.
By the end of the module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the engineering design basis of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing systems.
- Describe and apply current pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing principles
- Demonstrate an understanding of product quality and safety issues that control the regulatory acceptance of manufacturing facilities.
