Sensor systems in medicine

Module Title - Sensor systems in medicine
Number of credits - 10

Sensor systems are used throughout medicine as a means to both monitor and diagnose patients.  In recent years, our growing knowledge of the mechanisms underpinning disease have opened up a new range of target molecules that can be used for early diagnosis.  Many of these molecules have required novel sensing systems to enable detection at sufficient resolution and with reliability to make a success diagnosis.

This module will outline the principles behind existing sensor systems used in medicine and will feature specialists in the development of new sensing modalities who will provide seminars to the students on their latest research.
