Award Description

The Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership is offering a Collaborative Doctoral Award (CDA) co-designed between the University of Birmingham and National Literacy Trust titled: A place-based approach to literacy: the importance of partnership-working to the delivery of a successful local area project.

CDAs offer a project with established research aims, responding to particular needs in the cultural, creative and heritage sectors.

Value of Award

A full-time studentship award consists of:

  • Payment of approved fees (as set and agreed by UK Research and Innovation)
  • Maintenance grant (or stipend) for the student
  • Research Training Support Grant (RTSG), which supports UK/ overseas fieldwork and attendance at conferences (by application for current PhD students)
  • Collaborative Doctoral Award holders will receive an additional £500 per annum to facilitate partnership working
