Food security and cold storage

Across the globe, people are experiencing hunger and food scarcity, whilst others struggle with obesity, with one in three people suffering from some form of malnutrition.

Around 795 million people face hunger daily, and more than two billion people lack vital micronutrients. Rising populations require an increase in food production and a reduction in harvest losses. Cold storage increases the duration between harvest and  consumption, with consumers benefitting from longer availability and less variable product prices.

Our mission is to play a a leading role in mitigating the global food security crisis through the conservation of agriculturally significant species and use of a diverse range of modern molecular genetics and genomics approaches.
