Research Summary

Anisa joined the Centre for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Research in September 2014 with scholarship from Malaysia government and Human Life Advancement Foundation (HLAF). She obtained her Master in Engineering degree from University of Nottingham back in 2009. Her master research project was about jamming in silos and hoppers, lab based and programming.

The aim of her current research is to fabricate Ni/ScCeSZ anode substrate for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC).

Qualifications

MEng in Chemical Engineering, University of Nottingham, graduated 2009

Biography

Research

Anisa’s research is a continuation of Nikkia McDonalds and Lina Troskialina’s works on Scandia’s cell and Sn as dopant for biogas as fuel for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell(SOFC). Her first objective is optimising the manufacturing method, which she chose to use multilayer aqueous tape casting for the half cells (anode substrate/anode functional layer/electrolyte). The challenge is to transform the optimised parameters of Ni/8YSZ cell to Ni/10ScCeSZ. The second objective is to prove that the Ni/10ScCeSZ performs better at lower temperature with hydrogen and less carbon deposited with biogas compared to Ni/8YSZ cells. Her final objective is to further improvise the Ni/ScCeSZ using Sn dopant to emphasize the ability of the cell to be fuelled with biogas.

Other activities

Anisa is an active member of Malaysian postgraduate society in Birmingham with fortnightly meetings. She also volunteered as lab demonstrator and Project Design Engineering model demonstrator for undergraduate student.
