Research Summary

Hei Son joined the Centre for Doctoral Training in Fuel Cells and their Fuels in January 2018 as a doctoral researcher. He graduated from Loughborough University in July 2017 with a Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

The aim of his current research, carried out under the supervision of Dr Jung-Sik Kim and Dr Lisa Jackson, is to investigate the predictive control and health management of solid oxide fuel cells.

Qualifications

Master of Engineering (MEng) in Aeronautical Engineering – Loughborough University (2017)

Biography

Hei Son studied Aeronautical Engineering at Loughborough University and graduated in 2017. During a final year group design project, a manned-return mission to Mars was devised. For his dissertation, he developed a forced landing algorithm for UAV with engine failure.

Research

Hei Son's research is based on improving the understanding of thermal distribution of a solid oxide fuel cell, therefore enabling the development of a predictive control system. Different failures modes will be considered for this control system via the use of machine learning

Other activities

Hei Son has a range of interest including badminton, chess and music.
