Abstract

Sketch Engine is an online concordancing software tool that includes not only basic functions such as collocations, concordancing, etc., but also several unique functions such as thesaurus, word sketches, and SketchDiff. Sketch Engine also comes with many preloaded corpora in different languages, including British National Corpus (BNC) and several academic English corpora (e.g., BAWE/BASE). In addition to demonstrating how to use each function, the session will also cover how to make advanced search queries using CQL.
