Dr Alexander Pӧthig  Catalysis Research Center, Technical University of Munich.

Hosted by Michael Hannon Chair of Chemical Biology, School of Chemistry, Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies, and Director of the EPSRC Research and Training Centre in Physical Sciences for Health.

Dr. Alexander Pöthig is an outstanding early-career researcher. He has published 116 original research papers and his h-index is 15, extraordinary only five years after his PhD.

Alex has been developing large chemical agents with defined cavities. A highly interesting subclass of supramolecular host compounds are the so-called “pillarplexes” and the visit will allow cross-disciplinary exploration in this fascinating research area.

The visit will allow the opportunity to explore linking his research skills to colleagues in the schools of Chemistry, Biosciences, Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Pharmacy and the Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences.
