MESH aims to develop interdisciplinary research in bioethics, using and integrating empirical and philosophical methods. This involves both developing independent projects as well as ‘embedding’ biomedical ethics research into existing studies. We also publish on the theoretical and methodological challenges of integrating the normative and the empirical.

Members of MESH are at the forefront of the field of Empirical Bioethics, and are working to develop methodological innovation in the combination of empirical and normative research.  We publish work on theory, epistemology and methodology as well as undertake empirical ethics research in a variety of different ways.  We have a strong track record of research led teaching in this area, with strong international links, and are recognised internationally as a leader in this field.
