Professor Markus Seibel at the Concord Clinical School and ANZAC Research Institute at the University of Sydney School of Medicine will give a talk titled 'Glucocorticoid Actions in Bone and Beyond'

Markus J Seibel, MD PhD FRACP FAAHMS  is a Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Sydney, Concord Medical School. He heads the Department of Endocrinology & Meta­bolism at Concord University Hospital and is the Director of the Bone Research Program at ANZAC Research Institute, Sydney.

Markus is a Past-President of the Australian New Zealand Bone & Mineral Society (ANZBMS), a member of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of Musculoskeletal Research Societies (IFMRS), and chairs the Australian National Fracture Alliance.

His research interests cover basic, applied and clinical topics within the field of musculo­skeletal health and biology. He has publi­shed over 450 scientific papers, editorials, reviews and book chapters, and edited 8 books. His work has been cited over 19,000 times.  In 2017, he was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy for Health and Medical Sciences (AAHMS).

His presentation at the University of Birmingham will cover novel insights into the role of skeletal glucocorticoid signalling in the regulation of systemic fuel metabolism and ageing.
