Dr Nando Sigona working with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)
Dr Nando Sigona has been invited by MSF in Geneva to participate in a high level debate on the subject of forced migration. MSF has been actively rescuing refugees across Europe and Africa, many of whom have experienced difficulties at sea whilst trying to flee their country of origin due to humanitarian disasters such as war, famine, persecution and displacement. Dr Sigona is a leading expert on forced migration, irregular migration and refugee integration and has witnessed first-hand mass migration of refugees across the Mediterranean through the MEDMIG research project
MEDMIG was co-led by Dr Sigona and shed light on the dynamics (determinants, drivers and infrastructures) underpinning the recent migration across, and loss of life in, the Mediterranean, mapping the geographies, routes, and journeys of migrants arriving at Europe’s Southern border.
