UK Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities (UKCRIC)

As part of the government investment for the UK Collaboratorium for Research on Infrastructure and Cities, the University of Birmingham has constructed the National Buried Infrastructure Facility (NBIF) and will significantly enhance and refurbish its Transient Railway Aerodynamics (TRAIN) rig.

UKCRIC is a once in a lifetime opportunity to coordinate research activities in the fields of infrastructure and cities across academia combined with close collaboration with industry and government. This joined-up approach to a national and global challenge will transform our knowledge and investment to make infrastructure and cities far more sustainable and resilient now and in the future. The facilities at the University of Birmingham will integrate closely with large-scale facilities at the Universities of Southampton, Cambridge and Bristol, as well as with the wider UKCRIC observatories and all other members of UKCRIC.
