CHANGE (child weight management for ethnically diverse communities)

CHANGE (child weight management for ethnically diverse communities) was a National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment funded study which aimed to develop a children’s weight management programme that is culturally relevant to children and families from Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities and is also suitable for delivery in a diverse community.

WAVES (West Midlands active lifestyle and healthy eating in school children)

WAVES (West Midlands ActiVe lifestyle and healthy Eating in School children) was a NIHR – HTA (National Institute for Health Research Health Technology Assessment) funded study based in the Birmingham area. The study aimed to help prevent obesity in primary school-aged children through increasing physical activity both within schools and the wider community, whilst providing guidance on healthy eating at home and to assess the cost-effectiveness of the interventions.

Birmingham health Eating & Active lifestyle for children study (BEACHeS)

BEACHeS (Birmingham healthy Eating & Active lifestyle for children study) looked at preventing obesity in children; with particular relevance on children of South Asian origin, through developing practical methods of changing children’s behaviour so that they are less likely to become obese. Interventions were developed using local knowledge and then piloted in in schools and communities within the Birmingham area.
