Kumarendran is pursuing a split site PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health course focusing his research on polycystic ovary syndrome, androgen excess and cardio-metabolic outcomes.

He is a Board Certified consultant in Community Medicine in Sri Lanka.

Kumarendran is also Senior Lecturer in a Medical school in Sri Lanka.
