MA Translation student offered translation traineeship at European Union in Brussels

Marina Pekris, who is currently completing an MA in Translation Studies, has been offered a five-month paid translation traineeship at the European Union Directorate-General for Translation in Brussels.

Marina has followed modules on Greek translation on the MA, and it is currently working on an Extended Translated Project translating a novel from French into English. Being a native speaker of English and speaking two more EU languages helped her secure a traineeship in Brussels. As a trainee she will do the same work as staff translators, i.e. translating documents into her mother tongue from two official EU languages, using state of the art translation technology tools. She will be translating texts on a wide range of topics, including agricultre, energy, maritime affairs, mobility and transport, and research and innovation from Greek and French into English. Her internship will start in October.
