Centre for Human Brain Health

We are a research facility with the mission to understand what makes a brain healthy, how to maintain health, and how to prevent and reverse damage.

Overview of our Research Facilities

  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

MRI lab is at the heart of CHBH brain imaging and research focused on understanding what makes our brains healthy, how to maintain brain health across lifespan, and how to prevent and reverse damage

  • Magnetoencephalography (MEG)

MEG allows for continuous recordings of ongoing brain activity with a millisecond time resolution

  • Electroencephalography (EEG)

EEG allows for continuous recordings of electrical brain activity with a millisecond time resolution

  • Functional near infrared (fNIRS)

This imaging approach is able to detect variations in the blood oxygenation levels of activated brain areas and provide spatial maps of where changes occur

  • Sleep

The sleep laboratory houses two sleeping suites and a central control room

  • Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation

Non-invasive brain stimulation allows us to probe the links between brain areas and behaviour
