Ben Pattison, Doctoral research student

Ben PattisonBen is a postgraduate researcher who joined the University of Birmingham in 2012. The title of his PhD is: 'Generation Rent? Understanding the growth of the private rented sector in England'.

During his time at the University he has worked as a Research Assistant on an international project comparing housing wealth and welfare (HOUWEL). He is also a Teaching Associate within the School of Social Policy and a member of the executive committee of the Housing Studies Association.

In his previous role he worked as a researcher for the Building and Social Housing Foundation(BSHF) on a variety of topics including Housing Benefit and the private rented sector. He was lead author for the BSHF publication 'Self-help housing: Supporting locally driven solutions'. For three years he was a trustee for a charity which provides accommodation for refugees and asylum seekers in the East Midlands.
