DESCRIPTION:Facial recognition is a controversial and growing part of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education internationally; including applications in pedagogy, reducing violence, and monitoring attendance.\n
 In this talk, Prof. Gulson explores contrasting claims about the supposed-efficiency and possible racialised impacts of automation in education.\n

Biography
 Kalervo N. Gulson is a Professor in the School of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney, Australia, and an Australian Research Council Future Fellow. He has published extensively on inequity and educational governance. He is currently leading a major research program on the impacts of AI in education.\n
