SUMMARY:You might think there were only middle class 'mixed race' people! Studies of mixed people in higher education (CRRE Seminar)
UID:www.birmingham.ac.uk/205258
DESCRIPTION:Professor Miri Song, University of Kent
Professor Miri Song will draw on her current research to explore how qualitative studies of multiracial groups are wholly based on middle class, university educated people, rather than those from working class backgrounds, who may conceive of their ethnic and racial identities (and their salience) differently from racial projects spearheaded by middle class multi racials.\n
Why have studies of mixed people centred so heavily on those in higher education, what have these studies found, and what do we need to do to expand our knowledge based to include mixed people from less educated, privileged backgrounds?  \n
